Christmas in Sagadzie

Christmas table

The Philippines is a country, where the Christmas season starts already.. in September.

Until we reached the mountain town of Sagada in the Philippines located most road through the Cordillera mountain range. This is reportedly one of the most dangerous roads in the world, winds its way through the shelves of rock at a height of more than 2 thousand. m n.p.m. Fortunately, I could not see the details, because we received placed on the seat between the seats. I immediately became friends with lokalsami, who also were heading to the mountains for the holidays.. Rattled us almost like sacks of potatoes, but all in all a fun experience.

Silent Night, holy night… Sagadzie not in the Philippines. About The 21st Local youth began to celebrate. It was for my standards rather peculiar. Fire had been lit, around which held dances reminiscent of a witches' sabbath firmly while banging on the cover under the accompaniment. Participants in these dark rites were adolescents, which evidently assisted to some stimulants, doing strange movements and uttering sounds difficult to qualify. Also celebrated lighted flares, which is generally the entrance to the New Year's Eve. Because the thing took place under our windows and youth became more and more drunk about two in the morning I took a sleeping bag and went to look for somewhere spots, to sleep but little in the quiet Christmas Eve. I found, it would be best to me in church, but it was closed, I lay down next to. Zocha slept for a variety of sleep of the just and claims, with is simply better earplugs. My evidently not worked.

Previously, became friends with living in the same place we were your family, who came here from Manila just for Christmas. We were invited to the Christmas table spaghetti, cake and Fanta. It was nice and the family is really cool and looks like, that we will take with them tomorrow with Sagady to Banaue, where we plan to trek to the famous rice fields. And getting there is not easy too.

Earlier dopytywałyśmy also about the local customs of Christmas and always appeared information about this, that the celebration of holidays start at midnight mass. Therefore waited Zocha Stifling a yawn very bravely and to the accompaniment of a ruined cap, just after, so that when we left about 23.30 for the masses to learn, with the Sagadzie done it on 22.00 and that this is over. Indeed, we were very disconsolate.

Attractions are quite peculiar Sagady. In addition to beautiful nature attractions type, waterfalls and terraced rice fields is famous for its old tradition of burial. Well, part of the hanging coffins buried them on the shelves of rock, while others were buried in the caves. Today we visited both places, was a bit gruesome, but interesting experience. After the death of the deceased soot and attaches to the chair, the sacrifice of animals, ie the most. pork and chicken, then placed in a pre-hung on the ledge coffin. Sometimes too hung there also chair. The strange indeed.

Now, therefore, we rest our buttocks, but his legs are working as much as possible. The longest trekking will be tomorrow's rice paddies in Banaue.

Drogie Dziewczęta!
holidays, Christmas and After Christmas. Zycie wraca do normy.Jednak podróże rzeczywiście rozszerzają horyzonty myślowe. Na pewno przemyślę pomysł świątecznego stołu ze spaghetti, ciastem i fantą. Przecież 12 potraw to jakiś przeżytek . O ile mniej pracy kuchennej a przejeść się też można i tradycja będzie utrzymana.. But quite eerie seems to me the burial of coffins on the ropes the rock. Brrrr..
Rest yourself and look forward to further re Philippine( in)lations. Here in Lodz also heat , that is 8-9 degrees.

[…] Please festival, ongoing competitions, arrives people, arrives garbage. But quite surprisingly in front of the 21-±, when it is expected to begin mass megaphones stalls silent and curl. The square in front of the church come alive again after midnight, when the silence of the night bells resound, Fireworks explode, lights come on a huge Christmas tree and the people and priests before the church made a wish. The silence is, that I was lucky enough to be here at this time, of the sky more than a year ago in the Philippines, Christmas Eve night when it was my chore. […]
